SKISA Team South Africa 2009 is firmly on the road to Greece to participate in the 10th SKIF World Cup Karate 2009 that is being hosted by SKI Greece in the SEF Stadium (Stadium of Peace & Friendship) in the historical City of Athens. The elite team of SKISA commenced preparations in May 2008 and under the guidance of Kyoshi Sonny Pillay and the coaching commission headed by Chief Coach and Captain, Sensei Brando Pillay and General Manager, Mr Jay Sewsunker and aided by ladies team Captain Tina-Lee Singh and Men’s vice-captain Njabulo Khumalo.
Scientific support is being provided by the Sports Science Faculty of UKZN with the team compelled to five testing seminars prior to its departure in July of this year for the World event. Several weekend seminars and camps (Summer March 2009, Winter Aug 2008) have been hosted by the coaching commission.
