Durban norths karate superstars who ply their trade at GLENASHLEY SNR PREP SCHOOL  shone brightly at the recent GRANDMASTER KANAZAWA’S SKIF WORLD CUP KARATE AUSTRALIA 2012

They excelled on the world stage in the Cadett Division winning 5 medals (2 silver and 3 bronze)

The medalists  were Savannah Brandsma, Deven Govender, Yasti Reddy and Tahira Reddy

Tahira who missed gold by a whisker was the top performer with 2 medals a silver and bronze

The Snr TEAM SKISA led by Protea coach sensei Brando achieved a top 8 position in the TEAM EVENT despite some very poor biased refereeing against Team SKISA

“We are overwhelmed by our teams performance who defeated the title contenders TEAM BRAZIL enabling them to reach the top 8 “  said Head of delegation Kyoshi Sonny Pillay (Shotokan Technical head of KARATE SOUTH AFRICA national federation)

“It often seemed during the tri-annual Shotokan karate world cup  that our fighters who represented the Rainbow Nation had two opponents the fighter from the opposite team and the referee most of whom were from Australia and Europe

“TEAM SKISA remain undeterred and will now prepare for the KSA/WKF national tournament circuit” said chief coach sensei Brando Pillay
